Our Story
Digital Kids Foundation was founded in Brooklyn, New York with a simple observation: millions of functional laptops sit unused in closets while millions of children sit without the technology they need to succeed in school.
We bridge that gap. Every device we refurbish represents a child who can now do homework, join virtual classes, explore their creativity, and access the same resources available to their more privileged peers.
We believe technology is not a luxury. It is infrastructure for the 21st century, and every child deserves access to it.
1 in 3 low-income students lacks reliable computer access at home. Without it, homework, college prep, and job applications become nearly impossible.
50 million metric tons of electronics are discarded globally each year. Refurbishing extends device life and keeps toxic materials out of landfills.
Students with home computers score 17% higher on standardized assessments. Access to a device is one of the highest-impact interventions we can make.
Who We Serve
We partner with organizations serving children who face the biggest barriers to technology access.
We supply devices to under-resourced public schools, prioritizing districts where more than 70% of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.
Children in foster care move frequently and often lose educational continuity. A personal device can be a constant — something that's theirs, wherever they go.
Newly arrived families often lack resources to purchase technology. We work with ESL programs and immigration services to reach these families.
After-school programs, youth shelters, and libraries receive devices to extend learning opportunities beyond the school day.
